We started with the quartet: that was searching the corpses in the dining room.
As trained members of the elite units: they were very responsibly immersed in the work:
and so it was already too late for them: from the beginning: and by the time they noticed: that
they were not the only ones alive in the room: they were actually already dead. Our bullets cut
them to pieces. But as for their work: we were sorry it was left unfinished: so we took their
grenades and shotgun.
Another three heroically lost their lives near the stairs to the third deck.
The faint hope: that they could resist our frenzied attack for more than a few seconds
was extinguished the moment Lena ripped the metal door to the kitchen from its hinges and threw
it between them. One of them immediately had his head turned to mush. The other one remained
hanging motionless in the narrow space of the staircase: breathing laboriously: and probably
also had a broken spine - it would definitely be inhumane to prolong his further suffering - so
I quickly freed him with my pistol.
The third managed to crawl all the way down: and even turned around on the ground: and
tried to fire: but the shot: that rang out and mixed his jaw with the respirator: unfortunately
came from the opposite direction.
At the junction of the corridors leading to the starboard side: and up to the main deck:
without warning: a group of our six other victims began to fire on us.
Lena gave me a quick hug and jumped around the corner with me: definitely saving my life
as several bullets hit her and perforated also the back of her swim suit.
Then I didn't let go of her for a while.
"I am pretty leaky:" she said softly in my ear.
I squeezed her firmly: and kissed her cheek: "let's send them a greeting from the
scavengers."
The grenade explosion opened a large hole through which the misty morning sky shone.
Lena: the lizard skillfully climbed up the wreckage: and in short bursts: was making
busy the next group: that lay in wait for us cleverly placed in covers on the main deck - while
I rudely walked up the stairs and unscrupulously shot the key pair operating behind the winch.
As a result: mainly the battle confidence of the entire formation suffered a serious injury -
and its elimination was only a matter of a few tumbles: seven shots and three stabs.
"Are we done?" :I asked Lena: who suddenly dropped her rifle: and stared into the gray
clouds - but she didn't answer - she grabbed me with one hand like a big doll and jumped over-
board with me.
The surface closed behind us and the air above turned orange from the fire.
